About Here Be Dragons

Here Be Dragons is an award winning creative communications agency based in Shoreditch and, having just been named as one of the few PR agencies to watch in 2025 by The Drum, we punch well above our size when it comes to both our clients and the work we put out.

Here Be Dragons is more than just a name (it comes from old maps, you know) It is a philosophy on how we see the world, a framework on how we approach our work, a set of principles for our internal culture and a statement of intent for the type of bold work we want to produce.

Our work is bold, creative (obvs) and full of fire. Our clients are not limited by industry, and while the world of earned media is our bread and butter, we don’t limit ourselves to the traditional ways of PR to land good stories or results for the brands we work on - using influencers, OOH and social-first content in many of our campaigns.

We are entering into an exciting era of agency growth, and looking for an experienced Account Director to join us on that journey.

The Role

As an Account Manager in Here Be Dragons, we will expect you to do the following:

Client Handling

  • Can effectively run a busy press office, to consistently deliver top class coverage for our clients 
  • Can lead client calls confidently, and enjoys being a client’s go to person for day to day tasks on an account 
  • Has excellent project management skills, and adores a strict to-do list and timeline 
  • Is a good writer, and knows how to craft a press release that piques a journalist’s interest without compromising on brand messaging 
  • Can manage shoots, media sell-ins and aspects of campaigns effectively 

Team Management 

  • Be as confident and comfortable in effectively managing up to more senior people, as much as you are managing a team of Account Executives below you
  • Taking ownership of all tasks and instilling accountability in the people below you in order to get the tasks done  
  • Nurture talent through line management, to ensure we have a happy, supported, encouraged and high achieving team at all times

Media & Influencer Relations

  • Can effectively lead a media sell-in to land a story across multiple verticals, and hit KPIs as agreed with our clients
  • Has excellent media contacts across various media verticals, and is continually looking to build relationships with media
  • Loves to get on the phones, enjoys the buzz of a sell-in and likes to come up with reactive stories
  • Has experience of working with influencers
  • Is results driven, when it comes to quality and not just quantity of coverage 

Account Management 

  • Be organised, process driven and structured in your approach to getting work done
  • Will effectively run the day to day so that tasks like WIP documents, coverage reporting, press watches etc. are carried out with care and delivered on time
  • Will work with Account Executives to ensure all account admin is carried out with excellent attention to detail at all times

Agency Development:

  • Working closely with the SLT on marketing the agency across social media and trade media pitching

The Ideal New Dragon

  • Will have demonstrable experience in a fast paced, creative PR agency at Account Manager level
  • Is a person who is looking to make their mark, be part of something and wants to make an impact
  • Is a tenacious go getter, who can push things forward and stick to strict timelines and deadlines 
  • Be someone who thrives in a buzzy, fast paced environment and can keep a calm, steady head when it gets busy
  • Adores culture, learning about the world, and strives do things differently 
  • A doer - as a small agency, there will be times when you need to get your hands dirty that isn’t expected in bigger agencies

And, finally...

We work hard but we like to enjoy life, so work life balance is pretty important to us, which means we are generally out of the office by 6.01pm most days.

We like to spend time together and catch-up about things that aren’t status reports, coverage trackers or planning decks, so regularly organise cultural days out, team training sessions and after work drinks.

We are based in Shoreditch, East London, where we have a lovely two storey office with lots of natural light and exposed brickwork. We work there 3 days a week, and work from home on Mondays and Fridays.
